Leading education franchise partners with franchisee to develop locations across China

Leading supplemental learning franchise Sylvan Learning announced an extensive expansion plan for its brand in China, looking to add 200 locations across the country over the next 10 years.

The Baltimore Sun reported that the Baltimore-based education franchise facilitated a partnership with franchisee Bo Jiang who owns a for-profit high school specializing in the arts in Shanghai. Jiang plans to open Sylvan centers in several of his schools, beginning with for-profit and international institutions at several different grade levels.

“Many of the kids that go to the for profit or international schools have a desire to come to the U.S., U.K. or Australia,” McAuliffe told The Baltimore Sun. “All of our curriculum is English, and there’s a demand for children to learn English over there… People in private schools are looking for something different for their kids so they don’t get lost in the shuffle.”
