Talk of Alabama: Sylvan Learning Encourages Women to Learn More About STEM
In a male-dominated field, Sylvan Learning is lighting up the path for future female engineers.

Salima Jan and Davis Wooley of Sylvan Learning discussed the important of “Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day.”

“Engineering is typically a male-dominated field. The main reason for that is a lack of understanding and awareness,” Jan said. “As we celebrate this day, the objective is to bring that awareness and show how engineers—man or woman—can be a major contributor to society.”

Wooley and Jan also discussed the many STEM programs that Sylvan offers, which are designed to be engaging, fun and hands-on for students.

“We’re proud to have a technology driven, kid friendly environment at Sylvan,” Jan said.
